Another one of my favourite products that I have recently discovered is this Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque. I’ve never purchased anything from Kiehl’s before, but had read wonders about this particular product so decided to give it a try, and my oh my it’s amazing!!
There are so many things I love about this face masque from the smell to the texture; I am completely hooked. It’s targeted at people with normal to oily skin, but I really think those of you with sensitive skin will love this too. I often react to products, which is why I was so dubious about this.
Every time I apply the masque I do get a slight tingling sensation on my skin, which, the first time this happened I was expecting my face to have ballooned up underneath. Flashbacks of a dance show when I reacted to the make up suddenly came flooding back. But luckily, I was saved from being a sunburn victim lookalike for the second time. I think it’s something to do with the clay-like formula that produces this tingling sensation. Up to this point I’ve had no bad reactions (*touch wood*), which is probably down to the quality of ingredients used.
Although I’m now going to sound all technical I’m really not, I had to Google these… The Amazonian white clay used is sourced from the Marajó Island at the mouth of the Amazon River, which apparently is rich in minerals and helps eliminate surface toxins from the skin. Fancy! Another ingredient, which I had never heard of, is Bentonite, which put simply is another type of clay found in Canada and the Midwest that helps to reduce shine. There’s also Aloe Vera thrown in there too, which helps to cool and soothe the skin.
To really feel the full effects of this masque I jump in the shower first to open up my pores. I then cleanse my skin with a mild exfoliator; Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser is a great one! I then apply a thin layer of the mask, covering my face and neck and leave for around 10 minutes, or, until smiling becomes extremely painful. At this point I wash most of the masque off using warm water with my hands. If you want your skin to feel ultra soft I heat a face towel using the hottest setting on my tap, and place over my face when it’s cooled down enough to touch. This not only really opens up the pores, but also is fab for leaving your skin glowing! I would walk around all day everyday with a hot towel over my face if I could, but I think I may start to get a few strange looks…
I use this masque once a week, which I think is the perfect amount, although it does recommend you can increase this twice a week. For an at home spa experience I think this product is your way to go!
