Sadly gone are the days of living at home rent-free where I could spend my Saturday picking and mixing my favourite products from Bobbi Brown to Eve Lom. Whilst I will remain loyal to my favourite brands in times of hardship, I’ve had to tighten my purse strings in some areas and look to products that have a friendlier price tag. So, as we are in the midst of summer with hot weather headed our way in the UK (wahoo!), I’m going to share my favourite products with you that are each under £10, but still great at getting you in ship shape for summer!
1. OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti Breakage Serum, £7.35
This coconut hair serum is AMAZING. Firstly, it smells great. And secondly, and probably most importantly, it really does nourish my hair! I apply a 1p amount to towel dried hair to help control frizz and nourish damaged ends. When my hair is nearly dry I’ll also apply a little more to the crown of my head to control any fly aways. I promise this is all you’ll need on holiday for lovely natural waves!
2.Soap and Glory Flake Away, £6.40
I’ve tried A LOT of scrubs in my time (including some higher end products) and I can whole heartedly say this is my absolute favourite. It really does help to eliminate any uneven skin patches as well as brightening and leaving you with baby bottom smooth skin. It also smells fantastic, lasts me a couple of months when using every other day and at £6.40, it’s the reason I still haven’t strayed after first using 8 years ago!
3. Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Conditioner, £4.99
If you haven’t tried this brand, why not! I could sit here and write for hours about everything I love to do with Aussie hair care… but instead, I will tell you my two favourite things. Firstly, every product from the brand smells amazing! Secondly, the products and in particular this conditioner all really work to repair and protect your hair. I always use this as my conditioner on holiday as I know that my hair will need a good treatment after spending the day in blazing sun alongside jumping in and out of chlorine-filled pools. Go into the shower a hot, bedraggled mess and come out looking and feeling like an Australian goddess with this conditioner!
4. L’Oreal Sublime Self-Tanning Elixir, £7.99
If you are scared of using fake tan this WILL BE your new best friend. The formula is a lovely serum-type formula that is so easy to apply and takes to the skin effortlessly. It doesn’t have that normal biscuity fake tan smell and it doesn’t come off on sheets. It lasts at least a week and gives an amazing coverage. A friend told me about it recently and I’m genuinely upset I haven’t used it for longer!
5. Soap & Glory Foot Buffer, £8.75
To get those feet sandal-ready, this buffer really is amazing at removing any hard or dead skin. It has three parts: one for really getting rid of the rough skin, another for smoothing out and a third for getting in between your toes- and it really doesn’t hurt at all! Finish with a little foot cream and you’re good to go.
6. N07 Perfectly Bronzed Bronzing Pearls, £9.95
If, like me, you were ‘blessed’ with English Rose skin, bronzing/tanning products undoubtedly will be one of your best friends during the summer months. I love these pearls as they give a gorgeously subtle glow where the different colours blend together to give a lovely definition. I like to also take one of the darker pearls and use directly on my cheekbone area and then blend to help contour. It’s also great for eye shadow!
7. Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Sensitive Care Razor, £7.49
If you have sensitive skin this razor will be your saviour! The gentle, creamy soap containing aloe acts to really moisturise and soothe your skin as you shave away. It is oh so lovely on my underarms and leaves my legs looking silky smooth – and there’s no need to worry about remembering shaving foam!
8. Revlon Nail Enamel in One Perfect Coral, £6.49
I don’t know about you, but I have my staple nail colours that I rotate on a seasonal basis; plum for Autumn/Winter, nude for Spring and coral for Summer. This shade from Revlon has been part of my summer beauty bag for some years now simply because I love it! It compliments my pasty skin tone well, and my tanned skin even better after a holiday; and, it’s great quality! The colour gives a really good depth and it stays looking good on my toes for a couple of weeks even when jumping in and out of the sea!
9. Bert’s Bees Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil, £4.00
Not only is this probably the most nourishing lip balm I’ve owned, but it also gives such a gorgeous natural pink colour. It’s perfect to make sure your lips are prepped for any strong UV rays, and is equally great at protecting them when you’re out in it!
