MAC Lip Liner in Staunchly Stylish

Hello hello!

This will only be a short post this evening, but I had to share with you my new favourite lip liner that I recently discovered. I picked it up last week at the MAC counter when I was travelling through Milan airport. I was pretty overwhelmed with the products available, but after trying more than 10 different colours in various lipsticks and lip liners on my hand (getting to the airport early meant it got a little out of control…),  this lip liner in Staunchly Stylish kept catching my eye because of it’s deep and pretty nude colour.

It’s quite a neutral colour on and the finish is so moisturising and yet buildable that it looks really natural on. This particular colour is part of the pro longwear lip pencil range which is really obvious when wearing! It’s durable and gives a great finish, but then that’s no surprise from MAC!

I wear mine alone under lip balm to give a slightly more dewy effect on my lips, but it definitely gives enough nourishing coverage to be worn alone.

I’m starting to really invest in my lip liner collection so I’d love any suggestions you have!

Have a great Friday!

Clinique Pep-Start Launch Event

Hello you lovely lot!

So tonight I headed down to Clinique in Covent Garden where an event was being held for the launch of the pep-start eye cream. To celebrate, the store was filled with prosecco and cupcakes galore (which was amazing). I was walked through by a lovely team who all donned a gorgeous colour of lipstick, to a Clinique make up artist who miraculously managed to refresh my face after a very long day at work!

She used a dark lip liner first (which I can’t remember the name of!) and then the colour ‘Berry Pop’ in the Pop Lip Colour which is slightly lighter, to create an ombrĂ© effect on my lips, which I love! She then followed with the pep-start eye cream to brighten the area and then the airbrush concealer to really conceal any dark spots. I have to say I really was impressed by the pep-start! It has a ball-style applicator, where you squeeze a small amount out and then apply to your under eye area using the applicator. It was so soothing as soon as she began applying it, as the cool lotion alongside the smooth circular shape really helped to massage the area. On appearance my eye area really did look instantly refreshed and brighter, which for me is fantastic news!

What I also love about this product is that you can use it both on top and under make up. So you can pop it in your bag and top up throughout the day! Unfortunately I’m currently living on a diet of beans until payday, so I didn’t buy then; however, I can safely say I will be going back to invest!

Alex Steinherr, beauty editor of Glamour magazine was there on hand after the mini-makeovers to take a Kardashian-worthy selfie! I’ll let you decide if I’m red carpet ready (St. Tropez is definitely needed!)…

Everyone then received a goody bag with some goodies! Mine included a sample of the pep-start eye cream, the chubby stick in Super Strawberry, a sample of the superprimer universal face primer and a packet of jelly beans (which I’m currently sat in bed eating).

It was a great event put on by the team at Clinique, and I’m so pleased I went down not only to meet Alex, but also to try this wonder product that I genuinely believe will become my best friend!

Thanks for reading 🙂

A Weekend In Paris

If you’ve taken a look at my Instagram recently (the link is on the side of my page), you’ll have seen that I spent a few days strolling the beautifully sunny streets of Paris.
We stayed for two nights, and had the majority of three full days which was the perfect amount! I went with my boyfriend, and we’ve both been already, so we didn’t do lots of major tourist attractions, but still had an amazing time exploring where we hadn’t been before.

Rather than ramble on and on about how amazing the food was (which it was), I’ve decided to show you some of my favourite pictures of food of course, as well as a few other bits of our trip day by day!

Day 1:

Coat: Zara

Shirt: French Connection

Leggings: Warehouse

Boots: Marks & Spencer

Bag: Mulberry

Musee D’Orsay

Exploring the backstreets

We were on route to finding our next destination, and happened to wonder into a great area with cute cafes, and amazing shops full of intricate, fun items. Here are a couple of photos…

Top: Mango

Skirt: Zara

Shoes: Zara

Bag (just seen): Whistles

The most delicious mille feiule EVER!

Day 2:
Climbing the Arc De Triumph

Stripes in Paris – would have been rude not to!

Top: Zara

Skirt: Zara

Bag: Whistles

This was so amazing as not only did you see the amazing panoramic views of Paris, but we also had the perfect view of the Eiffel Tower. I’ve climbed the Eiffel Tower before which is an experience; yet the opportunity to see it amongst the beautiful backdrop of the untouched Parisian architecture was simply stunning.

I have recently become unhealthily obsessed with macaroons, so when I saw the LaudrĂ©e shop on the Champs ÉlysĂ©es I had to go in. Sweet fumes filled the air as a beautifully manicured shop assistant delicately arranged and wrapped my macaroons in a beautiful box. I wish I could say the eating process mirrored the calming atmosphere of the shop… They were demolished with 10 minutes of getting back to the hotel room.

Not your typical French cuisine, but this sushi was absolutely delicious! We noticed there were an increasing amount of sushi restaurants in Paris, so, as sushi lovers ourselves, we thought it rude not to try one out!

Day 3:

We only had a short amount of time to explore here as we caught the afternoon train, however this was such an interesting place to explore. The Pompidou is an arts and cultural centre, and houses a library, art gallery and a centre for music and acoustic research, as well as some very tempting shops and gorgeous rooftop restaurant! First of all it’s HUGE, so you can keep yourself entertained for hours. We made our way up to the top of the building, which offered stunning views of Paris, and then worked our way down through the art galleries. What I loved was the uniqueness of the exhibitions (see the photos above), with some interactive and others purely visual. It’s definitely a great place to go even if you wouldn’t consider yourself an art lover!

This steak and chips definitely didn’t disappoint as my final meal!

Hope you have enjoyed my little taste of Paris (literally!)

My Autumn/Winter Winner

I’ve had a fairly busy few weeks at work to say the least, so I decided to treat myself to this gorgeous nail varnish from Jessica! I’ve had this in the past, and have sworn by it, but due to funds/not being able to find it, I stopped using it for a while. Right now I can’t remember why….

This is my absolute favourite go to autumn/winter colour as the deep colour is so flattering, and really does look good with anything! The colour is called Cherrywood, which I’d say is a deep maroon/berry sort of colour. When the light catches it a really lovely warm colour shines through, which I absolutely love!

This brand of nail varnish is without doubt one of my favourites as not only does it last long, but the quality is so good that it makes your hands feel like they’ve been to a salon!

If you’re looking for a colour to invest in for this winter, then I can’t recommend this more!

Would love to hear if you use Jessica products too?!

Bobbi wins my heart again!

Hello lovely bloggers,

If you regularly follow my posts, you’ll have realised it’s been a while since I last posted! I’m sorry for falling off the blogosphere for a while, but I’ve been so busy I just haven’t had the time! I’ve managed to get myself a job which is so exciting, but also extremely terrifying as I have to grow up and join adulthood (well, kind of)! Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that I haven’t been sat there twiddling my thumbs, but rather have been tirelessly searching for a job! So, now that I am settled back into the swing of things I will once again start writing about my love of all things beauty, as well as some other bits along the way!

For my first post back I wanted to write about one of my all-time beauty heros; the Shimmer Brick by Bobbi Brown. It’s stuck by me through the hardship of job applications and interviews, so I can’t say a bad word about it! It’s one of the longest living products in my make up bag for a reason…

First, it’s a great all-rounder, being ideal for highlighting, using as blush and as an eyeshadow. I use this everyday without doubt as a highlighter on my cheeks as it gives such a gorgeous radiance to your skin. I also use it on the arches of my brows, as well as the inner corners of my eyes to really give an uplifting look to my tired eye area! I’ve also found it good to highlight areas such as my temples, and my dĂ©colletage.

The price may seem steep at around ÂŁ30, but this palette is so long lasting that it’s definitely worth investing. My last shimmer brick lasted well over two years. I managed to convince a friend to purchase one, and she is so happy she did!

The colour I use daily is the Rose palette, as I think it’s great for giving a pretty colour to my pale skin. I also have the palette in Bronze (which sadly I have left at home so can’t photograph for this post), which is great if you prefer a more bronzed – the clue is in the title!

As you can see, it’s well-loved!

Once again Bobbi Brown has triumphed, as this is such a great high quality, all-rounder! I really would recommend this product a hundred times over!

My favourite kind of delivery!

I’m sorry I’ve been so quiet on the blog front recently, but I have an exciting few posts coming up for you all! So in the meantime, I wanted to share my exciting delivery with you..

I’ve been in need of a new concealer, so I opted for my favourite Benefit Boi-ing concealer in shade 1; very sadly I’m loosing my tan so I’ve had to get a lighter colour. I also couldn’t resist buying this eye brightening product which I used to absolutely LOVE. I’m not really sure why I stopped using this product, but nonetheless it has once again taken pride of place in my makeup bag! If you missed my post about concealers, you’ll find a review of this particular Benefit one here. I’m planning on reviewing the Eye Bright product in a different post, so keep your eyes peeled!

What was even better about this purchase was that with the purchase of any two Benefit products on Feelunique you received this free gorgeous mirror! This is such a perfect item to transport around if I am need of a mirror as it folds flat in its case. As well, it has a fab colourful image on the front, to make getting ready in the morning slightly more bearable!

I’m now already looking for the next great product to buy from Benefit….

Review: Limited Edition Tahiti Nars Bronzer in Laguna

When a make up artist on the Nars counter recommended me this Limited Edition Tahiti Bronzer and mini Ika brush for an amazing price of £39 I really couldn’t say no! I was dubious at first as to whether I had been conned, but I am so pleased with my purchase! The original bronzer alone usually costs £27.50, and the full-sized Ika brush costs £43, so you’re saving an amazing £31.50.

First, as you can see above, you get 2g more product than the original bronzer (a winning situation all around!). This doesn’t sound a lot, but it really will make a difference, especially as it lasts so long. I originally purchased my old bronzer over two years ago, so it really is worth investing in. Even better, having that extra bit of product in the new palette means I’ll be saved another splurge for even longer!

I love the colour of this bronzer, as gives a gorgeous glow without being too overpowering. I originally saw this bronzer being used by the amazing beauty blogger Tanya Burr, and I am so glad I followed her advice. I like to lightly dust a covering all over my face to give a lovely healthy glow. With the handy contouring brush, I also make an effort to subtly define my cheekbones. It really is a great product for extenuating natural beauty by enhancing the look of a natural tan!

The mini Ika contour brush is amazingly soft, and makes it so easy to create delicately defined cheekbones. The loose hair bristles pick up less product than a denser brush, so distributes the product onto your skin really evenly, giving a lovely coverage. As well as this, there’s a really useful mirror in the compact, which makes it perfect for popping in your bag for touch ups throughout the day.

My only issue with this bronzer is that the packaging is much bigger than my old bronzer. I do love that the contour brush sits nicely inside, but as one of the larger items in my make up bag now, it takes up a lot more room!

(Quite a big difference in size!!)

If you haven’t tried this bronzer before, I would really recommend going to a Nars counter to test it out, you definitely won’t regret it!

Why I Love Clinique’s Chubby Sticks!

The full name of the product by Clinique is actually Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm, but I prefer to call it a Chubby Stick as it has a much nicer ring to it! It’s such a great concept, as it not only acts as a lip treatment by relieving dry, cracked lips; but there’s also a great range of colours meaning you can moisturise your lips all day long without forgoing great colour. It’s because it gives the intense nourishment of a lip balm, but then the fantastic coverage of a sheer lipstick.

As a result I have completely fallen in love with this product, so it is now a staple item in my handbag. They are firstly so, so easy to use. I’ve now mastered the art of using one without a mirror, which actually really isn’t that difficult. The length of the chubby stick makes it a lot easier to manoeuvre and control, and the sheer nature of the product means that if you do go beyond your lip line you can easily rub it away. Also, it’s retractable, so there’s no need to worry about twisting out too much product.

My favourite colour by far is Bountiful Blush (swatch on right hand side). This gives a lovely deep rose/pink colour which I find suits my skin tone really well! I find this is a great transitional product to wear, as the sheer nature of the lip balm means that it’s ideal for day to day wear, as the colour isn’t too intense. And, it’s equally as good for a night out as it gives your lips a gorgeous glow, making you feel super glam!

The other colour I have is Heaping Hazelnut (swatch on the left), which I would generally tend to wear throughout the day. As you can see, this is a far more subtle colour than Bountiful Blush, so I would use this to give my lips more of a natural glow. What I also find this colour to be ideal for, is if you are wearing heavy eye make up, so want something simple to wear on your lips.

My only criticism of this product is that you do have to reapply a few times throughout the day. But, as it’s so easy to use and super moisturising I really don’t mind!
