MAC Lip Liner in Staunchly Stylish

Hello hello!

This will only be a short post this evening, but I had to share with you my new favourite lip liner that I recently discovered. I picked it up last week at the MAC counter when I was travelling through¬†Milan airport. I was pretty overwhelmed with the products available, but after trying more than 10 different colours in various lipsticks and lip liners on my hand (getting to the airport early meant it got a little out of control…), ¬†this lip liner in Staunchly Stylish kept catching my eye because of it’s deep and pretty nude colour.

It’s quite a neutral colour on and the finish is so moisturising and yet buildable that it looks really natural on. This particular colour is part of the pro longwear lip pencil range which is really obvious when wearing! It’s durable and gives a great finish, but then that’s no surprise from MAC!

I wear mine alone under lip balm to give a slightly more dewy effect on my lips, but it definitely gives enough nourishing coverage to be worn alone.

I’m starting to really invest in my lip liner collection so I’d love any suggestions you have!

Have a great Friday!

Clinique Pep-Start Launch Event

Hello you lovely lot!

So tonight I headed down to Clinique in Covent Garden where an event was being held for the launch of the pep-start eye cream. To celebrate, the store was filled with prosecco and cupcakes galore (which was amazing). I was walked through by a lovely team who all donned a gorgeous colour of lipstick, to a Clinique make up artist who miraculously managed to refresh my face after a very long day at work!

She used a dark lip liner first (which I can’t remember the name of!) and then the colour ‘Berry Pop’ in the Pop Lip Colour which is slightly lighter, to create an ombr√© effect on my lips, which I love! She then followed with the pep-start eye cream to brighten the area and then the¬†airbrush¬†concealer to really conceal¬†any dark spots. I have to say I really was impressed by the pep-start!¬†It has a ball-style applicator, where you squeeze a small amount out and then apply to your under eye area using the applicator. It was so soothing as soon as she began applying it, as the cool lotion alongside the smooth circular shape really helped to massage the area. On appearance my eye area really did look instantly refreshed and brighter, which for me is fantastic news!

What I also love about this product is that you can use it both on top and under make up. So you can pop it in your bag and top up throughout the day! Unfortunately I’m currently living on a diet of beans until payday, so I didn’t buy then; however, I can safely say I will be going back to invest!

Alex Steinherr, beauty editor of Glamour magazine was there on hand after the mini-makeovers to take a Kardashian-worthy selfie! I’ll let you decide if I’m red carpet ready (St. Tropez is definitely needed!)…

Everyone then received a goody bag with some goodies! Mine included a sample of the pep-start eye cream, the chubby stick in Super Strawberry, a sample of the superprimer universal face primer and a packet of jelly beans (which I’m currently sat in bed eating).

It was a great event put on by the team at Clinique, and I’m so pleased I went down not only to meet Alex, but also to try this wonder product that I genuinely believe will become my best friend!

Burberry Lip For Less

Happy Sunday all!

If you follow my blog regularly you’ll have seen on my AW15 Beauty Wishlist the Burberry Beauty Burberry Kisses Lipstick in Bright Plum. I became obsessed by this lipstick thanks to the Burberry catwalk show at London Fashion Week last week. A main beauty look was a¬†gorgeous bold berry lip, which was complemented beautifully¬†by a simple base. As soon as I saw the look I was completely hooked! Firstly I am IN LOVE with the colour; it’s great for autumn, and looks amazing against any skin tone. I also think it’s a fab colour to wear if you don’t like being adventurous with your lip colour. Yes it does stand out in the sense that it’s not a neutral colour; yet the fact that it’s so flattering against different skin tones means it’s not too overpowering, which makes it a perfect bold lip colour!

The look as seen at Burberry…

The Burberry lipstick used is quite pricey at ¬£25, so I thought I’d try and find a cheaper alternative to recreate the look. I created my first ever video for this look (please be nice), so take a look at it here if you fancy! I’m really not a fan of hearing myself back (I’ve been cringing all morning), and know I have a few things to perfect when posting videos, but hopefully you’ll like it!

The look I created:

Products used:

Rimmel Long Lasting Lipstick in Starry Eyed , £4.99
Natural Collection Lip Liner in Mulberry, £1.99
Eve Lom Kiss Mix, £16
Benefit Boiing Concealer, £17.50

I hope you guys enjoyed the video and found it somewhat useful (sorry my phone buzzed during it, oops)! Any feedback on the blog/video is very welcome, and would love to hear your thoughts on the look!

Thanks for visiting!

Why I Love Clinique’s Chubby Sticks!

The full name of the product by Clinique is actually¬†Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm, but I prefer to call it a Chubby Stick as it has a much nicer ring to it! It’s such a great concept, as it not only acts as a lip treatment by relieving dry, cracked lips; but there’s also a great range of colours meaning you can moisturise your lips all day long without forgoing great colour. It’s¬†because¬†it gives the intense nourishment of a lip balm, but then the fantastic¬†coverage of a sheer lipstick.

As a result I have completely fallen in love with this product, so it is now a staple item in my handbag. They are firstly so, so easy to use. I’ve now mastered the art of using one without a mirror, which actually really isn’t that difficult. The length of the chubby stick makes it a lot easier to manoeuvre and control, and the sheer nature of the product means that if you do go beyond your lip line you can easily rub¬†it away. Also, it’s retractable, so there’s no need to worry about twisting out too much product.

My favourite colour by far is Bountiful Blush (swatch on right hand side). This gives a lovely deep rose/pink colour which I find suits my skin tone really well! I find this is a great transitional product to wear, as the sheer nature of the lip balm means that it’s ideal for day to day wear,¬†as the colour isn’t too intense. And, it’s equally as good for a night out as¬†it gives your lips a gorgeous glow, making you feel super glam!

The other colour I have is Heaping Hazelnut (swatch on the left), which I would generally tend to wear throughout the day. As you can see, this is a far more subtle colour than Bountiful Blush, so I would use this to give my lips more of a natural glow. What I also find this colour to be ideal for, is if you are wearing heavy eye make up, so want something simple to wear on your lips.

My only criticism of this product is that you do have to reapply a few times throughout the day. But, as it’s so easy to use and super moisturising I really don’t mind!

Red Lip Look

I love a red lip, and have rediscovered this great colour I picked up in Space NK a few months ago. The brand is called Lipstick Queen and the colour is Deep Red Sinner. It’s a gorgeous deep red, and is really moisturising!

To begin with, make sure you have moisturised your lips otherwise the lipstick will not take well! If my lips are particularly dry and flaking, I take an old toothbrush and gently buff away the dry skin. Works a wonder!!

First, I line my lips completely with a red lip liner. I use the one above by N07 Lips Precision Pencil in a shade called Red (see picture above). I start by drawing around the outline, and then fill them in. This not only holds the colour for much longer, but also prevents it from running.

After this, I apply the lipstick all over my lips….

I then kiss my lips on a piece of tissue to remove any excess colour.

Finally, I apply a product such as Vaseline or Pawpaw to give added moisture and extra shine. This also holds the colour for a lot longer!

If any colour does run, I either take a baby wipe or wet cotton bud to gently remove. Then, I apply a small bit of concealer to even out my skin tone again!

Hope you’ve found this useful! I’ve tried to show the difference between each stage in my pictures. However this was quite difficult, as all stages look very similar!
P.s. Please excuse the bags under my eyes – I’d had a long day and just taken my eye make up off!

Pink, Pink To Make The Boys Wink!

After going through my make up drawer earlier today, I realised how many lipsticks I actually own that I never wear (oops). It’s surprising how many pink lipsticks I found seeing as I wouldn’t consider myself to be a wearer of pink. So, to show them some love, I’ve chosen four of my favourite colours to show you…

  1. Crème Cup by MAC. A bestseller from MAC for a reason! A lovely light pink that will suit any occasion.
  1. Romantic by N07. A beautifully subtle colour to wear that gives your lips a perfect coverage.
  1. Vintage Pink by Rimmel. Such a pretty colour, this is perfect for like me, those with typical ‚ÄėEnglish Rose‚Äô colouring.
  1. Pink by Bobbi Brown. If you’re feeling brave this is a fantastic colour. Popping with vibrancy, and super moisturising, Bobbi’s lipstick is a winner for me!

Walk Of Shame… (not literally)

I wanted to share with you this lip colour by Charlotte Tilbury! This is the first item I’ve bought of her products, and I will definitely be returning. She doesn’t have a huge collection, which I like because it makes choosing a whole lot easier!

(Not my lips, although I wish they were!)

This particular lipstick is called Walk Of Shame, and is a berry tinted rose colour. It’s a really deep colour, and I love it against my pale skin! This is part of the Matte Revolution collection, in which Charlotte has aimed to create a range of 10 lipsticks that are long-lasting, hydrating, and with a buildable formula. They’re enriched with lipstick tree extract which protects lips and acts as a natural anti-oxidant. Plus, there’s orchard extract which soothes and hydrates for a soft, buildable cashmere look.

The colour is so easy to apply, and is so soft with a beautiful smell. I don’t usually wear matte lipsticks, but with this I really don’t feel like I’m wearing matte. You can see from the picture that there is a subtle glitter to this colour, which not only makes your lips look nourished and glowing, but also makes them look a lot fuller, without looking caked on in make up!

If you’re not sure whether you’ll like this, go to a counter (I bought mine in Selfridges) and try out some of the colours. The staff are really helpful, and weren’t overbearing, which was very refreshing!
There’s a nude colour called Kissing Hepburn Honey I’d love to get my hands on now!

A Gorgeous Lip

One of my absolute favourite items in my make up bag is this lipstick by Chanel in Captivante, which is part of the Rouge Allure collection. It’s so moisturising and long lasting, that now I really can’t live without it!

It’s such a fab colour to take you from daytime through to the evening as it’s subtle, yet gives your lips a gorgeous nourished look that instantly makes you feel more glamorous! As you can see in the pictures, there’s a shimmer to the lipstick that gives added depth to the colour, but is not at all over powering!

This is the first lipstick that hasn’t dried out my lips whilst wearing it, plus I only reapply once throughout the day, which I think is great! I also love it against my pale skin, as the colour isn’t too bold.

For something that is easy to wear and lasts, I’d definitely recommend investing in this! I was dubious about the price tag of ¬£26, but it’s pricey for a reason – because it’s so good!

(The photo quality isn’t great, but hopefully you get an idea of the colour!)
